Labour U-Turn on Park?

Cllr Neil Bradbury with £2: The proposed new charge for parking at the riverside park (photography: Neil Bradbury)

Local campaigners have welcomed the County Council's apparent withdrawal of a threat to reduce staffing at Prudhoe Riverside park but are concerned about a threatened DOUBLING of car park charges.

Liberal Democrats in Prudhoe want Northumberland County Council to reverse their plans to drastically raise the cost of visiting our county parks. The council was proposing to make half of the park rangers redundant, meaning that Prudhoe's Riverside Park would have had to share a ranger with Druridge Bay. This scheme would have left the parks badly understaffed. Fortunately, the council has backtracked on these cuts

However, the council is proposing to double parking fares in all country parks to £2 per visit. So if the Labour-run council gets its way, you will pay twice the money for the same service. We say - THINK AGAIN!
